Pakistan Pushes India Series After Boycott U-Turn

After Boycott Reversal, Pakistan Seeks Bilateral Cricket Series With India

After Boycott Reversal, Pakistan Seeks Bilateral Cricket Series With India: Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, discussions between the International Cricket Council and the Pakistan Cricket Board took a decisive turn after Pakistan linked its participation in the February 15 match against India to a set of conditions. Out of five demands raised by the PCB, the ICC declined three, including Pakistan’s request to restart bilateral cricket ties with India and to organise a proposed tri-series featuring Bangladesh.

The PCB had presented these demands during a high-level meeting held on Sunday, as part of its reconsideration of the boycott threat surrounding the marquee India–Pakistan clash. However, the ICC made it clear that certain proposals were not acceptable at this stage. The governing body also asked PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi to consult with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and convey the board’s final position within 24 hours.

According to sources, the ICC is expected to issue a formal update on the fate of the India–Pakistan T20 World Cup fixture either by Monday evening or early Tuesday, bringing clarity to one of the tournament’s most closely watched developments.
